Five days after PJ Dozier announced his intentions to declare for the NBA Draft, word leaked Monday that he'll be staying there.
The Spring Valley alum and former high school All-American is reportedly signing with an agent, ending his collegiate eligibility, and turning pro.
As a 6-foot-6 point guard, he's got next-level size and length. Dozier averaged 15.6 points and shot 50 percent in the NCAA tournament.
Yankees Game Two Performance against Rays is a Taste of 2017
Noah Syndergaard gave up only five hits in six shutout innings, while Lucas Duda drove in a game-high three RBIs. The Yankees will need their bullpen to stay sharp with 161 games left in MLB's annual marathon.
Dozier's initial plan was to take part in the National Basketball Association combine scheduled from May 9-14 and then make a decision, given that he'd have within 10 days of the end of the combine to change his mind.
Dozier's departure leaves USC without its three starting guards from last season, given that Sindarius Thornwell and Duane Notice are seniors. Dozier did a little bit of everything for SC, averaging 13.9 points per game, 4.8 rebounds per game, 2.8 assists per game, and 1.7 steals per game - which is exceptionally impressive on a team dominated by a college basketball superstar like Sindarius Thornwell. Dozier entered his name in the draft last week and has until ten days after the NBA Draft Combine - scheduled for mid-May - to remove his name and return to play at USC. He projects as a second-round draft pick. He and Dozier could become the first Carolina alums to be selected since Renaldo Balkman was taken 20th overall in 2006 by NY.
