After Guentzel gave the Penguins a 4-3 lead at 11:48 with Dubinsky in the box for cross-checking him, Dubinsky tied the game at 4-4 at 15:11.
With help from Sidney Crosby, Jake Guentzel and the defending champion Pittsburgh Penguins are on the verge of sweeping their opening playoff series against Columbus. Sheary did the hard part: poke-checking the puck away from Bobrovsky behind the Columbus net and getting it to Guentzel in front.
The 22-year-old rookie capped his hat trick by slipping it past Sergei Bobrovsky at 13:10 of the extra period for a 5-4 win and a 3-0 advantage for Pittsburgh in the playoff series. Game 3 is Sunday night in Columbus.
Dubinsky scored the overtime victor when the Blue Jackets beat the Penguins here in February, but his hope for repeat heroics was foiled when his shot hit Fleury's facemask. The accomplishment was still sinking in after the win.
"I thought we looked pretty calm, even though they got those three quick goals", Fleury said. Malkin and Crosby each had two assists. The team also held a pregame moment of silence and put together a video tribute that aired in the arena during a first-period stoppage in play. Bobrovsky finished with 42 saves, but he has not matched the standard he set during the regular season when he won 41 games.
With the Blue Jackets leading 3-2 in the second period of Game 3, the Penguins' Phil Kessel attempted a shot that rode up Werenski's stick and hit him in the face.
He tweeted a photo of his face after the game that showed his eye almost swollen shut. Game 4 is Tuesday night in San Jose.
The first came on a Rust tip-in of a shot from inside the blue line by Brian Dumoulin at 5:21.

After losing Games 1 and 2 in Pittsburgh by a combined score of 7-2, they were determined to show they were for real and make this a series on home ice.

"Desperate", Dubinsky said. "We have no other choice".
After the game, Werenski's coach, John Tortorella, offered succinct, vulgar praise for his player's toughness.
"He's a warrior", Blue Jackets captain Nick Foligno said.
