The Jaguars will receive an undisclosed 2018 draft pick from the Bengals, essentially replacing the seventh-rounder they dealt to Miami last month for left tackle Branden Albert. The compensation for Smith can likely be increased or canceled out completely based on whether Smith makes the 2017 roster and how much he plays.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have chose to release veteran linebacker Dan Skuta, according to multiple reports. His rookie year would prove to be his most impactful as he finished the season with three sacks and six tackles while playing in a total of seven games.
Smith, 25, hasn't seen much action since the Jaguars drafted him out of Arkansas in the fifth-round in 2014. It's hard to say how good Smith really is since he only played 69 snaps this past season and just 154 in 2015.

As rescuers assessed the full scope of the damage, many residents in Mocoa continued a desperate search for friends and relatives. There is little drinking water and no power, which forced authorities to suspend the search and rescue effort during the night.
Skuta signed a five-year, $20.5 million free-agent contract with the Jaguars in March 2015, with $8.1 million guaranteed.
Skuta appeared in 26 games (10 starts) for the Jaguars over the last two seasons.
The Jags have Telvin Smith, Paul Posluszny and Myles Jack in position to start at linebacker this year.
