Golden State Warriors All-Star Draymond Green was assessed a technical foul for a reaction to a referee's call, and at the time, the entire National Basketball Association world assumed that he was ejected from the game.
Referee John Goble explained that the referees had meant to give a first quarter technical to Steve Kerr all along, but it was attributed to Green - a mistake that was not corrected until the forward actually was T'd up in the second half.
When asked by reporters about his third quarter ejection in Game 4 of the NBA Finals that actually wasn't because of a mishap between the referees and the scorer's table, Green took aim.
Rather than it being Green's second technical foul - as it was listed on the stat sheet, and had been told to all of Quicken Loans Arena by the public address announcer - the officials huddled and determined that it was, in fact, his first.
John Goble, who called the tech on Kerr in the first half, took full responsibility for the mix-up, saying he should have done a better job communicating. "The table informed us that it was his second technical foul and ejected".
"We won three games in a row in the Finals and 15 in a row overall in the playoffs, you just think it's going to happen", Green said Sunday.
But the bigger incident involved Warriors enforcer Draymond Green, who is known for passionately expressing his grievances on the court.
"When we were there previous year I think I looked at him and said: 'Let's just never do this again".

"They make me feel good", Green said of the Cleveland fans. "So then I thought the second one Draymond was going to get kicked out, but they explained that the first one was on me".
"I don't pay much attention to anybody in Cleveland".
"After calling the loose ball foul on Draymond Green, I noticed the reaction by coach Kerr and then assessed the technical foul", said official John Goble, who assessed the technical on Kerr.
The box was changed after the third quarter to indicate Kerr had received the first technical.
On Thursday Green called Cleveland fans "Brutal" after his mother was harassed by a Cavs fan as time expired at the end of Game 3. He remained at a loss to understand why he got the second though.
The Ray Charles classic, "Hit The Road Jack" was blaring from the arena's speakers, and the fans were dancing as Green - their most loathed opposing player - held his arms aloft and urged the crowd on. The tip goes back towards Green and Iman Shumpert, and Green-who is all violent, flailing, sharp-angled limbs-whacks the bejeezus out of Shumpert.
"I love this game, and I love y'all", Green said with a smile. It shows me how important I am to them.
So even though Friday was a bad night for the Warriors, at least they head home with good news. That gave him an accumulation of flagrant foul points and forced him to sit out Game 5 as the Warriors lost their chance to clinch the series, and they eventually fell in seven games.
