Montgomery County coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger said authorities found a pipe device and a baggie of cocaine on 24-year-old Connor Betts. He also had Xanax and alcohol in his system.

During a Tuesday press conference, Dayton Police Chief Richard Biehl released a detailed timelines of events of the night that 24-year-old Betts killed nine in a depraved rampage outside Ned Peppers on August 3.

The coroner also told reporters that two people shot by Betts also were shot by police, but none fatally.

Connor Betts was shot by police at least 24 times on August 4, an autopsy found, per CNN.

Police confirmed that the shooter's sister, Megan Betts, was one of the first three fatalities, but Biehl conceded that law enforcement officials had "radically different views" about whether the shooter intentionally killed his sister first.

Detectives investigating the attack say he had a fascination with mass shootings, but are yet to identify a motive.

Police investigators will review the medical records of the 17 who were wounded to determine if any of them were struck by the officers' bullets, Biehl said.

The obituary was replaced with a statement saying, "Stephen and Moira Betts apologize that the wording of the obituary for their son Connor was insensitive in not acknowledging the bad tragedy that he created".

The sheriff's department said it was contacted early Friday afternoon by the FBI Joint Task Force in NY regarding Griffin. The other bomb failed to explode and police responded to the scene after a civilian spotted it and called 911.

The obituary posted online by his family makes no mention of the shooting and describes him as "funny" and "well=read" and a lover of music. Betts had 52 gunshot wounds in his upper and lower torso, but some of them could be exit wounds, the coroner said.

"Until (the suspect) is separated from his weapon, lethal force is warranted", Biehl said, noting that Betts attempted to get up twice after officers initially opened fire on him.

Megan Betts, 22, is not mentioned in the obituary published by Conner & Koch Funeral Home, but has her own obituary - which happens to not mention her brother.

A longtime friend of the Dayton shooter is headed back to court after a judge balked at releasing him from jail.

Authorities have said there's no indication Kollie knew Betts was planning the mass shooting.

Prosecutors accused Kollie of lying about not using marijuana on federal firearms forms in the purchase of a pistol that wasn't used in the shooting.

A judge scheduled a detention hearing for Ethan Kollie of Kettering in suburban Dayton on Wednesday afternoon.

Defense attorney Nick Gounaris said the charges Kollie was arrested on "involved a firearm not used in any violent offenses".
