She says the roughly $1,000 a month she receives is not enough, especially when caring for her service dog.
Ontario's new government says it will bring in major changes to social assistance, starting with reducing a planned increase in disability support rates and cancelling a basic income pilot program.
Additionally, as part of this reform, MacLeod also announced that the Province will be winding down Ontario's Basic Income pilot in order to focus resources on more proven approaches.

Since she started participating in the program a year ago, Mendowegan has received her Grade 12 diploma, is in the process of completing a 16-week remote cooking course and is enrolled to start the office administrator program at Confederation College.
A Canadian province has chose to end its basic universal income program, which was launched in 2017, after lawmakers decided it was "not sustainable".
"Our plan will help get people back to work and keep them working, while supporting people with disabilities to work when they are able and participate in their communities", said MacLeod.

Advocates for basic income initiatives said such programs are more effective in lifting people out of poverty than social assistance and require less bureaucracy to run.
"Things like increasing social assistance rates and basic income pilots, those are just good policies to have", said Ziegner.
Losing the program is going to make those plans more hard, she said.
