India accounts for the biggest market for Honda 2Wheelers, both by sales, and now even by production.
With this latest capacity expansion of 600,000 units, HMSI now has totalled annual production capacity of 6.4 million units across four plants in Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Karnataka. To better meet dynamic market demand and to prepare for future opportunities, today Honda has inaugurated the fourth assembly line in Karnataka plant.
Commenting on the performance, Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Senior Vice President - Sales & Marketing, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt Ltd said: "Honda's commitment to the market and its customers have helped us achieve double digit growth".
India has been one of the largest markets for Honda, and the company has the majority share in the scooter market here, making it worth the investment.
Jacobs buys CH2M in £2.1bn deal
Jacobs said the transaction equity value of $2.85bn (around £2.1bn) would be paid 60% in cash and 40% in Jacobs Common Stock. The company had revenue of $2.30 billion during the quarter, compared to analysts' expectations of $2.63 billion.
"In July, Honda exports reached an all-time high monthly exports", he added. The expansion has added 0.6 million units to the annual production capacity of the Narsapura factory. This has resulted in the Narsapura plant being the biggest global production hub for Honda 2Wheelers.
The new assembly line is flexible and is used to assemble the Honda Activa and Honda Dio.
The new assembly line will boost its capacity to 24 lakh units/year, higher than other three facilities in Manesar, Tapukara and Vithalpur. The statement has said by Shinji Aoyama, regional operations chief officer, Honda Motor Co and the region contribute 60% to Honda global two wheeler sales. The company claims that its overall market share in the first quarter of FY 2017-18 stood at 30 percent.
The Honda Factory at Narsapura is an environment friendly one, with all its water usage taken care of by rain water harvesting, and 80 percent of electricity generated by solar panels.
