According to ESPN W, EA Sports game NBA Live 18 will have a WNBA Play Now mode, which means for the first time ever, people will have the opportunity to play a basketball video game as a woman, specifically, their WNBA player of choice. A free demo is scheduled to release on August 11th, although the demo won't feature any WNBA players. NBA Live, which is rivaled by the likes of the popular NBA 2K, will be the only video game franchise with this feature.

It includes The League and pickup games via The Streets allowing the player's customized character to progress no matter which type of match is chosen.

NBA 2K18 is not the only basketball game coming out later this year. This entailed conducting head scans of star athletes and fine-tuning player ratings and skill moves in order to present the league and its stars in the most authentic way possible. The womens' league will be available in the WNBA Play Now mode, with teams and players balanced for the unique playstyle of that league.

Incorporating women into their sports games is nothing new for EA Sports. Two years earlier, EA Sports began incorporating women's national soccer teams in Federation Internationale de Football Association '16. This will be a pivotal moment in the official WNBA's roster of teams as they get ready to debut in a video game.
