White House spokesman Sean Spicer resigned on Friday, ending a brief and turbulent tenure that made him a household name, amid further upheaval within President Donald Trump's inner circle.

Spicer resigned earlier in the day, six months into the administration, after Trump tapped NY businessman and political supporter Anthony Scaramucci for the job of White House communications director. I was an inexperienced person in the world of politics.

As to whether the latest drama will affect Trump's legislative agenda, Christie said tax reform is "in serious peril" unless Trump rolls up his sleeves and gets to work, engaging with members of Congress.

In multiple White House statements Friday Trump praised Spicer's "great television ratings", despite Spicer not delivering an on-camera briefing since June 20.

Before Anthony Scaramucci was tapped to take over as White House communications director, he was a Harvard-educated Wall Street guy and the founder of billion-dollar global investment firm Skybridge Capital.

Spicer also addressed comedy that had been based on his often-confrontational White House news conferences, including actress Melissa McCarthy's portrayal of him in several sketches on "Saturday Night Live".
