Russian Federation has jailed the killer of opposition leader Boris Nemtsov for 20 years, and handed four accomplices in the 2015 murder sentences ranging from 11 to 19 years.
"Nemtsov was a prominent critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin, accusing his government of corruption and fighting a covert war in Ukraine", NPR's Lucian Kim reports from Moscow.
Investigators have been criticised by the victim's family for not finding out how ordered the assassination, with a group of five Chechens promised 15 million roubles (around £193,000) for the murder.
An advocate of democratic reforms, Nemtsov was once seen as the political heir to Russia's former President Boris Yeltsin, under whom he served as a deputy prime minister in the 1990s.
Prosecutor on July 12 asked the judge to sentence Dadayev to life.
Dadayev-a former officer in Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov's security forces, and a fervent Putin supporter-shot Nemtsov in the back before fleeing the scene.

It called for "strict monitoring controls to ensure its (Doha's) seriousness in getting back to the natural and right path". But it has denied aiding militant groups linked to al-Qaeda or so-called Islamic State.
Dadayev's four accomplices were jailed for between 11 and 19 years for helping to plan and carry out the murder.
The court stripped Dadayev of his rank of lieutenant and removed an earlier award for bravery, Ria Novosti reported.
Bakhaev was in charge of coordinating the logistics and providing shelter to the others after the crime, while Eskerkhanov had studied Nemtsov's daily routine and travel routes.
The Gubashev brothers, Eskerkhanov and Bakhayev, were found guilty of helping to organise and carry out the killing.
Their lawyers believe senior figures within Chechnya who are loyal to the Russian leader may be behind the killing.
