Sanders won't say whether Trump believed Putin's denial

USA and Russian officials have disputed accounts of the discussion between Trump and Putin over the election meddling, which was discussed at their Friday meeting.

"A cyber security working group with the very perpetrators of the attack on our election?" Rep. Eric Swalwell said it was like "giving the alarm code to the guys who just burglarized your home". I think he took it into consideration and agreed with it.

Trump, according to Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, pressed Putin on election meddling and then moved on. "This is a challenge, obviously, for us globally".

Trump's sometimes-yes, sometimes-it's-a-witch hunt position means it would be hard for him to push the issue.

The Florida senator - who often battles with Trump before eventually backing down - took to Twitter to blast the president for choosing to work with Putin despite information from U.S. intelligence agencies stating that Russian Federation was behind the hacks. How could Putin discuss something of which he has no knowledge? But they did try to attack our election system.

Trump has said he thinks Russian Federation probably hacked the emails of the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton staffers, but that "other people and/or countries" were likely involved as well.

That means Trump is in a box, politically.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson says he and President Donald Trump didn't expect anything other than a denial from Vladimir Putin that Russian Federation interfered in the 2016 US presidential election when they all met in Germany. But he is still avoiding the question of whether he accepts Putin's denial that Russian Federation was responsible for meddling in the 2016 election. They were successful in many ways.

The statement from the White House on Monday is a direct contradiction to comments tweeted by Trump a day earlier.

Plus Russian spies and hackers are blamed for waves of snooping on the American technology and financial sectors and may be linked with recent cyberattacks on U.S nuclear power plants.

The US intelligence community and GOP leaders in Congress have concluded Russian Federation meddled in the 2016 presidential election with the intention of harming Hillary Clinton's chances, but Trump has only tepidly accepted Russia's involvement.

He and other administration officials said Trump did not want Russian interference in last year's election to prevent him from working with Putin's government on other issues, including the civil war in Syria.
