If Martha is big, ugly, lazy, gassy and still a world champion, you can be anything you want to be. Her handler Shirley Zindler answered for her: "I'd gloat, but I need a nap".
She beat out 13 other dogs, a lot of them much older and much smaller. The California crowd was cheering for Martha from the beginning of the contest but she could not care less.

The aesthetically-challenged pups are judged on their unusual attributes, audience reaction and first impressions.
A droopy-faced, 125-pound rescue dog named Martha was finally crowned the victor after a three-dog tie breaker based on audience response. However, with his strong sense of smell, Moe was able to enjoy funnel cakes and other fried items.
The competition was stiff: Moe, a lackadaisical, scraggly-haired mutt whose tongue generally hangs out the side of his mouth nabbed second place.
