"We are going to dig by hand throughout the night to try to rescue" the missing workers, Wilson Garcia, director of the emergency response unit in Cundinamarca, told AFP.

The country's national resources are heavily exploited by worldwide capitalist interests, especially mining industries that have a predatory relationship with communities suffering dispossession and loss of life due to their activities.

Colombia, a major world supplier, provided more than 70 percent of USA coal imports.
