On Tuesday, Former Indian Captain Anil Kumble stepped down as the Head Coach of Indian cricket team and in an official statement.
Kumble, a former India captain, took to Twitter to explain his decision, saying he was informed by the BCCI on Monday that Kohli had "reservations with my "style" and about my continuing as head coach". Kumble, 46, had already appeared headed for the exit after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) advertised for a new coach last month, although he was an automatic candidate.
"I see the coach's role akin to "holding a mirror" to drive self-improvement in the team's interest", wrote Kumble, who may not be as expressive as Kohli but is perceived as equally assertive.
Kumble's one year contract expired at the end of the ICC Champions Trophy where India lost in the final to Pakistan by 180 runs but he was given the option to travel with the team to the West Indies for the limited overs series beginning on Friday. "Finally, Kumble made a decision to move on and he has decided not to continue with the West Indies tour", the Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman told reporters. Previously he was the Head Coach of Sri Lankan Cricket Team, and led the team finals of 2007 World Cup. "I've always respected that and we have continued to maintain that as well".
Speaking to the media ahead of the first One Day International against West Indies which begins on June 23, Kohli opened up about whether the situation could have been handled better or not.
