Trump Slams Obama for Not Stopping Russia From Meddling With Election

Johnson was the "latest top intelligence official to state there was no grand scheme between Trump & Russia", Trump tweeted.

Democrats have argued that Russia's hack of the DNC and top Hillary Clinton aide John Podesta's emails and their subsequent release on WikiLeaks contributed to Clinton's loss and that Trump colluded with Russian Federation to win the election.

An official with the US Homeland Security says Russian hackers targeted 21 election systems in different US states during the 2016 race, which yielded President Donald Trump.

"In 2016, the Russian government, at the direction of Vladimir Putin himself, orchestrated cyberattacks on our nation for the objective of influencing our election - plain and simple", Johnson said, warning that the cyberattacks against USA elections would worsen in the years ahead.

In August 2016, based on evidence that Russian Federation was trying to hack our election systems, the Obama administration attempted to designate those systems as "national critical infrastructure". "Heaven knows there is no reason to not give the world's premier law enforcement agency, which is the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the evidence they may need to stop another attack from hurting someone else", he said on Fox News Channel's The Story after the hearing.

"It's all a big Dem HOAX", he tweeted. "It is true there is no evidence that the tampering with voter machines or tampering with voter registrations or any of like that affected the counting of the votes", Congressman Adam Schiff (D-CA), who serves on the House Intelligence committee, said back in January.

Samuel Liles, the Department of Homeland Security's acting director of the Office of Intelligence and Analysis Cyber Division, said vote-tallying mechanisms were unaffected and that the hackers appeared to be scanning for vulnerabilities - which Liles likened to walking down the street and looking at homes to see who might be inside.

President Trump fired off several morning tweets Thursday about the Russian Federation probe. Noting that Russia's overall goal was to shake confidence in the United States' ability to have an election, Earnest said it would have been "irresponsible" for the administration to have taken more active public steps expressing worry about Russia's actions.

DETROW: Johnson says administration officials were anxious about tipping their hands on intelligence methods or looking like they were picking sides in the election.

President Donald Trump thinks that Russian Federation was "probably" responsible election hacks that hurt his opponent, the White House said Thursday, he's just exhausted of Democrats using the illegal activity as a crutch for their electoral loss.

"In 2016 the Russian government, at the direction of Vladimir Putin himself, orchestrated cyberattacks on our nation for the objective of influencing our election - plain and simple", said Johnson, who warned that cyberattacks would get worse before they get better.

Special counsel Robert Mueller was later named to lead the investigation, and The Washington Post reported that Mr Mueller is considering investigating Mr Trump for obstruction of justice because he fired Mr Comey.

"I believe that the reference in the hoax is about the fact that they're trying to delegitimize his win in the election process and less about the hack itself", Sanders said.

Later, at a White House gaggle that was held off camera, reporters probed Huckabee Sanders about the tweets and Trump's position on Russia'a guilt.

Trump has long raised doubts about whether Russian Federation was behind the hacking, something most Republicans and the entire intelligence community has determined.

But Johnson didn't say that Wednesday.
