Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has had a lawsuit filed against him by Spanish prosecutors after he allegedly committed tax fraud during his time as Real Madrid manager.
Spanish tax authorities believe Mourinho used an image rights company based in the British Virgin Islands, part of a chain of companies, including two in Ireland linked to Mourinho's agent Jorge Mendes.
In a statement, Ronaldo's management company Gestifute said there had been no attempt to evade taxes.
"The Spanish government in turn, through the tax department, issued a certificate (pictured left) in which it attested that he had regularised his position and was in compliance with all his tax obligations".
The football world in Spain has been rocked by charges of tax evasion or corruption pressed against some of its top stars.

In Spain, sentences of under two years are normally suspended. The two were given 21-month jail sentences but neither is expected to serve prison time since it was a first offence and the sentence was under two years.
According to Cadena Cope, the star of Real Madrid has chose to pay the staggering amount and reached an agreement with the judges.
Speaking about Ronaldo's reported desire to leave the club, Perez added: 'Not I, nor anyone at Madrid, is contemplating that Cristiano could leave the club'.
The 29-year-old is the latest Argentinian player to come under scrutiny from the Spanish tax authorities.
Numerous players charged with tax fraud are represented by an agency owned by super agent Jorge Mendes.
Meanwhile Brazil star and Barcelona forward Neymar and his parents are due to stand trial for alleged corruption over his transfer from Santos in 2013.
