Leader of Barnet Council Councillor Richard Cornelius saiud: " While the difference in the cladding system at Granville Road mitigates the fire risk, we are not prepared to take any chances with the safety of residents and have therefore jointly taken the decision with Barnet Homes to remove the cladding on the three tower blocks as a precautionary measure".

The company added that it was "addressing this as a matter of utmost urgency and assisting the authorities in any way we can".
Officials also confirmed that the blaze began with a faulty refrigerator and was not started intentionally.
Hotpoint says in a statement that "words can not express our sorrow at this bad tragedy".
Much of the early focus has been on the cladding and insulation that are thought to have allowed the blaze to race up the sides of the building after it broke out, leaving many people with no way to escape.

Chalcots was reportedly refurbished between the year 2006 and 2009 by the same firm which oversaw refurbishment works at the Grenfell Tower in 2015-2016.
CEP Architectural Facades said in a statement: "Individually, these materials can be integrated into a safe cladding system but certainly we recommend that in high-rise buildings class 0 rainscreen panels should only be used in conjunction with a non-combustible insulation material such as mineral fibre".
She also said it could take between two and four weeks to make safe the four buildings - Taplow, Burnham, Bray and Dorney - while residents of a fifth tower block, Blashford, were told they could return to their homes.
