Democrats' disputes simmer after special election losses

Remember when the Democrats proclaimed that Republicans would pay heavy prices in special elections for going after Obamacare? If Democrats fall short next year, she may join the growing list of California's older Democratic leaders put out to pasture. This implies the party is in shambles when actually we're seeing lively debate about how to proceed and what is best for the country.

President Donald Trump took to social media to mock both the House Minority Leader Democrat Rep. Nancy of Pelosi of California and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of NY as politically beneficial targets for Republican candidates.

And GOP Rep. Adam Kinzinger of IL noted: "There are local reasons (why Ossoff lost). But she certainly is one of the reasons".

But no. Nancy Pelosi is still their party's prom queen. She is a great leader.

On MSNBC's "Morning Joe", Ryan predicted it would be hard for Democrats to win back the House with Pelosi as Minority Leader. "To me, the South wasn't a place where we celebrated people's differences, but now that feeling is so different", Bowman said. Is it building to the point that we can win 24 seats and take back the House?

The longtime politician's sentiments came just before Trump spoke of her in an interview with "Fox & Friends" which aired on Friday. In Pelosi's case, the former Speaker of the House managed to get Obamacare through a rigorous process of debate and sunshine, and then got it passed by keeping the Democratic caucus unified.

It's no surprise that the Dems tanked, given the inept leadership they have in Congress, especially in the House, where Nancy Pelosi calls the shots as the minority leader.

Mr. Ryan got closer to putting his finger on the real problem when he said the Democratic brand had become "toxic" in much of the country because voters saw Democrats as "not being able to connect with the issues they care about".

President Donald Trump is lashing out at top Democrats on Twitter.

Verstappen leads first practice in Azerbaijan
Esteban Ocon was seventh fastest on the super-soft tyres ahead of Felipe Massa , who opted not to use the softest rubber. The first practice got underway under a clear sky with track temperatures at a blistering 54 degrees C (129 degrees F).

"I am a strategic politically astute leader", Pelosi said.

"This is certainly something that we have to discuss because it's clear that, I think, across the board in the Democratic Party, we need new leadership", the MA lawmaker said.

But some rank-and-file House Democrats scoffed at such explanations and raised questions about Pelosi's continued leadership.

When asked on NBC about possible leadership changes, Democrat Bill Pascrell of New Jersey replied, "We're always reviewing that, believe me".

Ossoff was tied directly to Pelosi, and her San Francisco-centered base, in a number of Republican-funded campaign commercials targeting voters in the highly-educated and conservative suburban district he was hoping to win. From 2014 to the 2017 special election, the Democratic vote in Georgia's 6th District rose by 74.7 percent. Keep raising the concern that something needs to change within the ranks of the party's leadership.

"This is not anything personal between me and Nancy Pelosi. Time to move forward and win again", tweeted Joe Cunningham, a Democrat who is running against Rep. Mark Sanford in SC. He was backed by "a lot of liberal money from the Democrats and Pelosi", said another from the National Republican Congressional Committee.

The two campaigns and outside groups supporting and opposing the candidates shelled out at least $36 million, including more than $22 million from Ossoff's campaign.

One thing most everyone could agree on: Coming in second doesn't cut it now and wouldn't be an outcome to celebrate next November.
