Addressing jubilant supporters, Handel thanked key Republican figures including Trump.

"The same, exhausted centrist Democratic playbook that has come up short cycle after cycle will not suffice", DFA chairman Jim Dean said in a statement. "We may have different beliefs, but we are part of one community, the community of the 6th District".

"And we need to be not just pointing at some of the excesses or even outrages of President Trump - some of the statements he made as a candidate, or some of the choices he's making - and instead put forward a positive and constructive agenda".

Ms Handel, 55, will become the first Republican woman to represent Georgia in the US House, according to state party officials.

After the Handel was declared the victor, CNN contributor Symone Sanders had this to say. "It also suggests that attacks tying more centrist Democrats to the national party, particularly House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, can still prove effective". "And I say that ladies and gentlemen in regards to both sides of the political aisle".

Trump rose Wednesday morning and called on Democrats to learn from their latest losses by reaching across the aisle to work with him and Republicans. A win for Handel could give Republicans a confidence boost in the public's acceptance of their agenda. After a bit of crowing about the failure of "fake news" fueled, big spending candidates and a shout-out to Fox News, President Donald Trump offered up this: "Democrats would do much better as a party if they got together with Republicans on Healthcare, Tax Cuts, Security".

So it was with Tuesday night that the blame game started immediately after it was clear they had lost both seats, particularly the one in Georgia.

Confederations Cup : Germany, Chile set for heavyweight clash
On one side of the coin, Rogic's emergence as a proper global player for the Socceroos feels like the most exciting for a while. Germany came to the Confederation Cup with a young squad that has only three players from its World Cup-winning team.

"Well, the Special Elections are over and those that want to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN are 5 and 0!"

Democrats had been hoping to make inroads with many of those in the group termed reluctant Trump voters.

Republicans immediately crowed over winning a seat Democrats spent at least $30 million trying to flip.

As the results rolled in Tuesday, AshLee Strong, spokeswoman to House Speaker Paul Ryan, mused over Twitter, "Remember when they told us we'd be punished in the special elexs for following through on our promise to #RepealAndReplace #obamacare?" But taking a step back, there's a silver lining for the party that's come up short: if Democrats can seriously compete in red districts in red states like these, they can seriously compete nearly anywhere. "They have a bad leadership". "The fight goes on".

The victories could boost Republicans' confidence as they struggle to advance health and tax legislation that has been bogged down by infighting and investigations into whether Trump's campaign colluded with Russian Federation in last year's presidential election. Donald Trump can't win. "If you look at the numbers, she was basically able to capitalize on the amount of Republicans that lived in that district". "She said nice things about the president".

Democrats did hold on to a seat in California earlier this month. She also welcomed a parade of national GOP figures to Atlanta to help her raise money, with Ryan and Vice President Mike Pence holding fundraisers following Trump's April visit.

Ossoff took in $8 million from individual contributions, compared to Handel's $2.1. "Since black folks in Fulton didn't line up as EXPECTED 4 Osoff Dems better do more then #resist & #renegotiate a better deal!"
