The China-based travel agency that organized a trip to North Korea for an American college student who died after being released in a coma from North Korean detention said it would no longer take US citizens to the country. He was imprisoned for 17 months before being returned to the United States, comatose, on June 13.

The death of USA student Otto Warmbier following his incarceration in North Korea has shaken tour companies catering to thrill seekers, with several reconsidering whether to take Americans to the reclusive state.

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has called on China to do more to pressure North Korea over its nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs. In an interview with the Washington Post, President Moon clarified that his new administration has not made any changes to the previous government's decision to deploy the USA anti-ballistic missile system, but he said the environmental impact assessment must take place as part of due process.

Relatives have said they were told by USA envoys that North Korean officials claimed Warmbier contracted botulism after his trial and lapsed into a coma after taking a sleeping pill.

But the official said it was unclear if North Korea was preparing for a new nuclear test to coincide with the June 21 talks in Washington with Chinese officials.

The Hamilton County coroner is still trying to determine the manner and cause of his death Monday, less than a week after his return.

Sen. Bob Corker took McCain's stance a step further stating that he believes USA citizens should be banned from visiting North Korea. But the United States officials said it will be at least a year before they can evaluate whether the North Koreans are feeling pressure because of China.

Warmbier, an honour student at the University of Virgina, fell into a coma on March 2016, just days after he was sentenced to 15 years of hard labour in North Korea.

"I personally believe that it is not possible for China to step up sanctions against North Korea because China has already been tough".

It was unclear whether his remark represented a significant shift in his thinking in the US struggle to stop North Korea's nuclear program and its test launching of missiles or a change in USA policy toward China.

The American who has been held the longest in North Korea at this time is Kim Dong-chul.

I am encouraged that we're calling for, pressing for the release of the three remaining Americans in North Korean custody.

The U.S. side is expected to press China to cooperate on a further toughening of global sanctions on North Korea.

Experts on southeast Asian relations have pointed out that China is the country best positioned to confront Kim, because of its proximity to North Korea and the essential economic support it provides the country.

The Chinese have moved a bit toward restraining North Korea, but not enough for administration officials' taste - and there is reason to be skeptical as to how much more they will move.
