The wife of the man accused of shooting at Republican Congressmen spoke out Thursday afternoon. Three others, a GOP congressional aide, a United States capitol police officer and a lobbyist were also injured by gunfire.

Hodgkinson, who spent most of his life in the community of 42,000 just across the Mississippi River from St. Louis, compared the economic conditions of the time to those that preceded the Great Depression and excoriated Congress for not increasing the number of tax brackets and taking other tax reform measures.

After an all-members briefing where Democrats and Republicans held hands and prayed, House Speaker Paul Ryan and top Democrat Nancy Pelosi addressed the somber chamber and proclaimed lawmakers were "united". One neighbor told us that he and his family really kept to themselves. On Thursday House proceedings were to resume as usual, and lawmakers were returning to the Capitol in search of some semblance of normalcy.

When Dauberman mentioned that he worked six days a week, he said Hodgkinson erupted into a tirade against the president rife with profanity. "Violence of any kind is unacceptable in our society, and I condemn this action in the strongest possible terms".

Scalise, 51, was in dire condition when he was first shot, but internal bleeding is under control and the prognosis is positive. "He had a Halloween party a few years ago".

Congressional staffer Zach Barth was shot in the leg and has since been released from the hospital. A government official says the suspect in the Virginia shooting that injured Rep. One of the last encounters anyone had with Hodgkinson in Belleville was March 24, near his home just outside the Belleville city limits. Democratic former Alexandria Mayor Bill Euille said he had spoken often with the man on recent mornings at the nearby YMCA. "It's time to come home", the report said. "The Second Amendment right to bear arms is to ensure that we always have a republic", he said, answering a question on gun control. "I'm sorry that he did this but there's nothing I can do about it".
