Man City are set to sign Dani Alves from Juventus, according to GOAL.com, who report that the Italian champions are targeting Man United defender Matteo Darmian as a replacement for the Brazil global.
Guardiola knows Alves well from their time together at Barcelona.
The Brazilian has already reached a verbal agreement with Manchester City but Chelsea are also interested.
Alves's agent had a meeting with Juventus on Monday and made the club aware of his client's desire to move on.
He is awaiting the go-ahead from the Italian champions to begin talks with City.
The Brazilian should not be short of admirers in the City dressing room after amassing an enviable honours collection through the years, including three Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup crowns.
Iran says it fired missiles targeting Daesh in Syria
Tehran has warned ISIS militants that any future attacks on the country will result in powerful strikes against the group. Iran is a solid backer of the Syrian regime and has given President Bashar Assad extensive military and political support.
City sources expect the deal to be completed shortly, barring any unforeseen issues, and it is possible that Juventus will make their position on Alves official in the next 48 hours.
Would you like to see Alves in the Premier League?
The former Sevilla defender previously enjoyed an extremely productive four years under Guardiola at Barcelona from 2008 to 2012, before the latter moved to become the head coach at Bayern Munich.
Alves, 34, was critical of the club after their Champions League final defeat by Real Madrid and wants to quit the Serie A champions after one season.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Juve may now try to bring him back to Italy as they look for a new signing to fill the void left by Alves at right-back.
