Thackeray told Shah on Sunday that the Sena would take a decision only after the BJP's nominee for the Presidential election was named.
The Shiv Sena kept its ally BJP on tenterhooks on Monday as it remained non-committal on whether or not it will back the candidature of Bihar Governor Ram Nath Kovind for the Presidential election.
The Mumbai visit is part of the country-wide tour programme undertaken by Shah from April to September, party sources said. However, Shah made it clear that both the names suggested by the Sena, that of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and agriculture scientist MS Swaminathan weren't in the reckoning. In 1997, Sena propped up former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) TN Seshan as its Presidential candidate against KR Narayanan.
Shah defended the approach of his party in meeting opposition leaders over presidential election without proposing a name.
Expressing its concern over the renewed spate of terror in the Kashmir Valley and the violence in West Bengal's Darjeeling, the Sena said these heavenly places on earth are now passing through a bad spell, but "some people" are more eager about winning mid-term elections in Maharashtra. His angsty speech interestingly comes days after he met BJP president Amit Shah at his residence in Mumbai.

The soft, forgiving conditions created opportunity for major movement up the leaderboard for those players willing to take it. Thomas, who was tied for the lead at the time at 9-under, chose to go for the green from a little over 300 yards out.
Shah said the Modi government brought an end to politics of appeasement and dynastic rule. "But since they have chosen some other name, the party will convey to the BJP our decision soon", Raut said. Amit Shah says they will form the government.
The Sena chief also attacked the BJP leaders for frequently speculating about mid-term polls in Maharashtra.
"Don't feel you will always win. things are changing", he warned the BJP, adding that farmers anger would lead to it being defeated if snap elections were called.
Clearing the air on cricketing ties between the two neighbours, he said it was all right for them to play in worldwide tourneys, but not on each others' soil. The Sena chief agreed, contradicting the BJP, which supported NDA candidate P.A. Sangma.
Against the backdrop of a speculation that mid-term polls could be in offing in Maharashtra, he said Sena is not unduly anxious about the snap polls, but is more concerned about suicides being committed by farmers.
