Tweeting Trump attacks campaign probe 'witch hunt'

In a tweet Friday morning, President Donald Trump says he's being investigated for firing FBI Director James Comey.

In a third tweet Friday morning, Trump repeated his assertion that the investigations are a "phony Witch Hunt" and bragged that the nation's economy is improving quickly.

The Post had reported that Trump was being investigated for potential obstruction of justice by Robert Mueller, the special counsel looking into Russia's interference in the 2016 presidential election.

As part of his probe into possible obstruction, Mueller has requested interviews with senior intelligence officials about their conversations with Trump, a former senior intelligence official with knowledge of the discussions confirmed to NBC News. All week, some of Trump's most ardent defenders, including his son Donald Trump Jr., his White House counselor Kellyanne Conway and friend and occasional adviser Newt Gingrich have questioned the probe in similar ways.

"After 7 months of investigations and committee hearings about my "collusion with the Russians", nobody has been able to show any proof".

Trump's tweets have recently looked an bad lot like what a reporter said were GOP talking points meant to combat the Post's report.

In his tweet today, Trump seemingly confirmed the report and reiterated his charge linking his presidential campaign with Russian Federation is nothing but a political witch-hunt. As a result, the Federal Bureau of Investigation is unlikely to regain public and congressional trust until it has a Director who understands the gravity of the mistakes and pledges never to repeat them.

Trump says Scalise "continues his very fearless fight", but adds: "it's been much more hard than people even thought at the time". The shooter was an IL man, James Hodgkinson, who had lashed out against President Donald Trump and Republicans over social media.

Trump has repeatedly complained about the probe, saying Democrats can not accept his election win.

Today, in another series of furious tweets, it seems Trump has inadvertently confirmed this news.

"Mueller is setting up a dragnet of obstruction, financial questions and every aspect of Trump's life and his associates lives.very risky", Gingrich said. However, several days later, in an interview with NBC News's Lester Holt, Trump contradicted his administration and cited "this Russian Federation thing" as the reason for Comey's sacking.

Recent news reports have suggested Mr Trump sought all three officials' help in pressuring Mr Comey to drop his investigation into former national security adviser Mike Flynn.

Of course, Rosenstein isn't directly investigating Trump, but he's tasked with overseeing the investigation by newly appointed Special Counsel Robert Mueller (who expanded his office with 13 new attorney hires this week).

Trump slammed the development as political witch hunt.

The Senate Intelligence Committee is also continuing its investigation into possible election tampering. This latest blast nearly suggests that Rosenstein told Trump to fire Comey because of Russian Federation, not because of the prior Clinton investigation debacle.
