Conte won the EPL title in his first season in charge, but his future at Chelsea has been continually raised in recent months.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have downplayed reports that Conte has fallen out with the club hierarchy over a lack of transfer activity so far this summer. The club are still planning on making Conte the best paid manager in our history with an extension on his current contract.

We surely hope that this will be solved as quickly as possible, with Conte staying at the Bridge for many years to come as it seems to be Chelsea's wishes as well.

Virgil van Dijk had always been earmarked as a potential arrival but Liverpool's interest in the player - together with the uncertainty over the managerial situation at Southampton, who sacked Claude Puel last week - has significantly increased the Dutch defender's valuation.

Bidding clubs now know he is available and Chelsea have yet to tie down a deal for his replacement, Romelu Lukaku of Everton.
