Sydneysider Jones, who began his round on the 10th, couldn't rediscover the first-round radar with his approach shots, but played some exquisite chips and clutch putts around several greens to maintain his challenge.

"I'm one-for-one defending titles, so that's a pretty good stat", Berger joked after securing his second PGA Tour victory at the age of 24.

But Mickelson closed with two bogeys, a birdie and a double bogey at No. 9 to finish at 4 under par, five behind co-leaders Chez Reavie, Charl Schwartzel and Sebastian Munoz.

Thornberry shot a 65 and became the first amateur to finish in the top 10 at the St. Jude Classic since 1965.

They were one stroke in front of overnight co-leader Stewart Cink, who carded a 68 for 132, with Ben Crane, victor of this tournament in Memphis, Tennessee, on 133 after a 65.

CAMBRIDGE, Ontario - Ariya Jutanugarn was seated by the scorer's tent after finishing her final round Sunday, snapping selfies with In Gee Chun and thinking there was little chance they would return to the course for a playoff at the Manulife LPGA Classic.

Adam Scott's last drive of the day was the best at 18.

The South African finished seventh at the U.S. Open at Chambers Bay two years ago and looks good so far in his prep for Erin Hills next week.

Jutanugarn shot 3-under 69 and was tied with Thompson (72) and Chun (70) at 17-under 271.

Three dropped shots in the first five holes had him on the backfoot early on, though birdies at eight and nine, plus a level-par back nine saw him card at one-over par round of 71.
