Trump Appears to Confirm He Is Under Federal Investigation

President Trump on Friday morning confirmed that he is under investigation for firing former FBI director James Comey, in a tweet that raised questions about Trump's understanding of who is in charge of that investigation.

However, that would indicate either that Trump doesn't understand Rosenstein's role in the special counsel investigation, or that Rosenstein is more directly involved in the investigation, which would go against federal regulations.

Mark Corallo, a spokesman for Trump's legal team, also denounced the report, saying: "The FBI leak of information regarding the President is outrageous, inexcusable and illegal". A spokesman for Mueller's team declined to comment on Wednesday.Moscow has denied US intelligence agencies' conclusion that it interfered in last year's election campaign to try to tilt the vote in Trump's favor.

Trump took to Twitter Friday morning to lash out at the months-long investigation into Russian Federation meddling. "He was referring to the Washington Post story from the other night that was based on illegal, anonymous leaks".

In it, he warned Americans against believing stories that cite "anonymous "officials" especially when no details about the source are provided.

On Wednesday afternoon, we learned that Mr. Mueller's probe now includes President Trump and obstruction of justice.

Trump fired FBI Director James Comey in May, and that firing is now reportedly part of an investigation into whether Trump obstructed justice as president.

Trump Blasts Media Report on Obstruction of Justice
Rosenstein took over the investigation into whether Russian Federation tried to tip the U.S election in favour of Mr. But Rosenstein, too, may ultimately have to hand off oversight of the probe given his own role in Comey's firing.

In congressional testimony last week, Comey said Trump had told him he hoped the FBI could let go of the investigation of former national security adviser Michael Flynn.

Later in the Holt interview, after appearing to call Rosenstein (not by name) "highly respected" and a "very good guy, a very smart guy", Trump said: "He had made a recommendation".

Recently, Comey made a startling revelation, accusing the White House of "lies". Last week, Comey testified in a Senate hearing that he believed he was sacked "because of the Russian Federation investigation". Comey said he believes Trump ultimately fired him "because of the Russian Federation investigation".

But at the White House today, spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders acknowledged to reporters that Mueller had been at the White House - just the day before he was appointed as Special Counsel.

Trump is under increasing pressure on the Russian Federation probe.

"It is my view that fully investigating the facts, circumstances, and rationale for Mr. Comey's removal will provide us the opportunity to do that on a cooperative, bipartisan basis", Grassley said. They can figure out what's going on from being interviewed this way.
