On Sunday, Spanish King of Clay Rafael Nadal wins his 10th French Open title after winning against Switzerland's Stan Wawrinka, 6-2, 6-3, and 6,1 in the finals.
Only Australia's Margaret Court has more victories at a Grand Slam tournament, with 11 Australian Open women's singles wins between 1960 and 1973.
Rafael Nadal now trails only Roger Federer, who won Australian Open and opted out of the French Open, in Grand Slam title wins.
And in 2012, he surpassed Bjorn Borg's record to become the most successful player in French Open history with his seventh crown. Plus, Nadal had lost three Grand Slam finals in a row to Djokovic, at Wimbledon in the U.S. Open in 2011, then the Australian Open in 2012. "The nerves and adrenaline I feel on this court is impossible to compare". It is hard to compare this tournament to any other one.
"But the thing that I am more proud of in my career probably is 2013". Wawrinka had to be aggressive but he was making far too many unforced errors - 17 in the first set alone.
But the song remained the same, Nadal taking the set in the ninth game, just moments after Wawrinka, who knocked out world number one Andy Murray in the semis, had destroyed a racquet in utter frustration. Confronted with the match's first break point, 10 minutes in, he solved the predicament this way: service victor at 107 miles per hour (173 kph), ace at 117 miles per hour (189 kph), service victor at 120 miles per hour (194 kph). To put that in perspective, Wawrinka, comfortably the second-best player this year at the French Open, lost 102 games over the course of seven matches.

In the final set, another break gave Nadal a 4-1 lead and he would confirm his date with destiny as Wawrinka netted a backhand on his second match point. At one point during the match his frustration got the better of him and he broke his racket over his knee.
"It's hard to describe how I'm feeling; all I can say is "thank you".
Prior to Sunday, Nadal had not won the French Open since 2014, as he battled injuries in this late stage of his career.
This time it has been hard for me, but my relationship with this tournament is special. For sure this score wasn't good, the match wasn't good, but at the end of the day there's a lot of positives to take from the last few weeks.' If you look at Roland Garros over the last two weeks, the tennis you have played, including beating the World's No. He is now 3-1 in Grand Slam finals. After the match, he explained just how important this win was to him. It's impossible to compare it to another place.
Defeat by Austria's Dominic Thiem in Rome was a minor blip as Nadal went on to enjoy total domination at Roland Garros, emulating his 2008 and 2010 titles when he did not drop a set.
