Results so far suggest that May's party could struggle to retain its overall majority in Parliament.
Ms May called it the Brexit election and projected her strong self versus the weak Corbyn as her winning gamble.
British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson has also denied plotting to topple Theresa May, whose hold on power remained tenuous Sunday as she tried to finalize a deal with a small Northern Irish party to prop up her minority government after a disastrous election.
Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn had given the party "confidence" about selling party policies such as public ownership of the railways, she added.
After the election, Corbyn expressed readiness to serve the country in case May stepped down.
"The irony of this is that Theresa May is calling this a certainty government and talking about how it's delivering certainty", said Brian Klaas, a fellow in comparative politics at the London School of Economics. The Scottish National Party is projected to win 34 seats, the Liberal Democrats 14 seats, and other parties 22 seats.
If all this uncertainty weren't enough, the Labour Party, which won 261 seats in the election, has its own divisions to deal with.
One of the lead European Union negotiators, Guy Verhofstadt, criticized May on Twitter, writing: "Yet another own goal, after Cameron now May, will make already complex negotiations even more complicated".
With the DUP providing the Conservatives a narrow, but crucial, majority in Parliament, it could have an outsized influence.

With results in from all 650 House of Commons seats after Thursday's vote, May's bruised Conservatives had 318 - short of the 326 they needed for an outright majority and well down from the 330 seats they had before May's roll of the electoral dice.

Noting the "crucial Brexit talks that begin in just 10 days", May said the new government will work to fulfill the will of United Kingdom voters who decided past year to leave the European Union.
May's Downing St. office said Conservative Chief Whip Gavin Williamson was in Belfast Saturday for talks with the DUP "on how best they can provide support to the government".
He said the Conservative election manifesto - which Hill and Timothy were key in drafting - was "a full assault on the core Tory voters, who are senior citizens".
This is the first time since the 1990s that Britain has a minority government, in which the governing party can not get measures though Parliament without outside support.
But the Labour leader has told the NZ Herald he's not taking too much heart from it.
"I'm sorry for all those candidates and hard working party workers who weren't successful", May said on Friday after a surprise resurgence by the main opposition Labour Party under its leftwing leader Jeremy Corbyn.
