Mr Rosenstein has also acknowledged that "theoretically" Mr Mueller could be removed from the position as special counsel, potentially undermining his investigation.
But Ruddy outlined what seems to be growing talk from Trump circles raising concerns about Mueller.
Even Jay Sekulow, a member of Trump's legal team, said, "I can't imagine that that issue is going to arise", when asked about the possibility of firing Mueller on the same program Sunday.
Rosenstein repeatedly conveyed his support for Mueller's role at a Senate hearing, held the morning after a close friend of President Donald Trump was quoted in a television interview as saying he was considering dismissing Mueller.
But Ruddy himself calls it a bad idea, and many, many people reportedly agree - including a host of presidential advisors. Trump, who isn't typically shy about leveling criticism, especially on Twitter, hasn't commented on the longtime former Federal Bureau of Investigation director. He added, "Don't waste time trying to undermine one of your few allies".
When asked about Ruddy's comments, the White House did not knock them down. This was after a February meeting in which Comey said Trump told Sessions and others to leave the room before asking him to drop a probe into National Security Adviser Michael Flynn's contacts with Russian Federation.
Gingrich said that he "began to change" his opinion when former FBI Director James Comey made an "arrogant statement" last week during his testimony that he "felt he had the right to leak" information "specifically in order to get a special counsel".
Under current Justice Department regulations, such a firing would have to be done by Rosenstein, not the president - though those regulations could theoretically be set aside.
Irish Get Arizona State Wide Receiver Transfer, Cameron Smith
But really, name a wide receiver who faced a Brian VanGorder coached defense the last three years that didn't have a career day. Smith and Freddy Canteen , a MI graduate transfer with two years of eligibility remaining, will join the mix in fall camp.
Still not everyone is a fan. A shining example of this is the way that former Speaker of the House and Trump supporter Newt Gingrich is acting.
Ruddy said the ethics behind Mueller's presence are concerning considering how he was appointed to be special counsel. It's unclear whether the president could override those rules and order Rosenstein to fire Mueller.
Sen. Lindsey Graham, a South Carolina Republican, disputed that report. "I think it'd be a disaster". But Trump has never shied away from controversy, and given the GOP-controlled Congress's unwillingness to buck Trump on, well, anything, it's perfectly plausible that he could fire Mueller and suffer no consequences for doing so.
After news of Ruddy's interview surfaced on the web, Rep. Adam Schiff, the top Democrat on the House intelligence committee, echoed that sentiment on Twitter.
Days after Comey was sacked, Robert Mueller was appointed special counsel.
Some of Trump's conservative allies appeared to be turning on Mueller recently, after having first praised his appointment in May.
They say Mr Trump did not collude with Russian Federation and see the investigation as a politically motivated sham that handicaps Mr Trump's ability to execute his agenda, according to one person who advises the White House on how to handle the probe.
