Bill Cosby sex assault case in hands of jury

Bill Cosby has managed to get into the middle of Keshia Knight Pulliam and Ed Hartwell's divorce and custody drama. A kindly mentor or a callous manipulator.

The legendary comedian was accompanied by his wife Camille on Monday, June 12.

The jurors in the trial are Pittsbugh-area residents, who have been brought to the Norristown courthouse at the order of Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas Judge Steven O'Neill.

Jurors started their deliberations late Monday after the defence earlier in the day wrapped up its case in a breathtaking six minutes - calling just one witness in Cosby's sex ssault trial. "Who says something like that when you're in that situation?"

Andrea Constand says she was drugged and molested.

None of the other women's accusations has resulted in prosecution - in many cases, too much time has passed - leaving Ms Constand's case as the only formal test of Mr Cosby's guilt.

"Cosby testified over a decade ago as part of her lawsuit, eventually settling the case for an undisclosed sum".

Jurors in Bill Cosby's sexual assault trial are zeroing in on the night Cosby says he gave his accuser three blue pills that he described as "friends". "He gave her no choice in this matter".

Each of the three counts carries a standard sentence range of 5 to 10 years in prison, but that doesn't mean Cosby could be facing up to 30 years.

ALLYN: More than 50 women have accused Cosby of uninvited sexual advance, but nearly all of the cases were too old to prosecute. She slipped into the courtroom while the judge was addressing the audience and the attorneys.

The extramarital affair was an example of a flaw in Cosby's character, and not criminal behavior, McMonagle said.

The defense strategy focused on highlighting inconsistencies in Constand's past statements about the timing of the alleged assault and pointing out that she remained in contact with Cosby for weeks after the night in question.

In addition, Constand initially told police that she had not been alone with Cosby prior to the alleged assault and that they had little contact after.

The defense's solitary witness was Richard Schaeffer, a detective who helped take down Constand's original statement in 2005, a year after the incident.

He told BBC's This Week: "She should have been there with the residents, which is what Jeremy Corbyn was". The refurbishment, carried between 2015 and 2016, saw new external cladding installed on the building.

Cosby himself did not testify on his behalf. Legal experts and courtroom observers generally dismissed that suggestion as a bluff, perhaps created to throw prosecutors - who ended with a lot of momentum - off balance.

In his excited and animated closing, McMonagle made emotional appeals to the jury, weaving anecdotes about parenting and patriotism as he argued Cosby's prosecution was "nonsense" driven by lawyers and media attention. That is evidenced, he said, by how Cosby left Constand disheveled on a couch after the incident.

Jurors did hear Cosby's side of the story - but not in his voice.

But Constand's is the only criminal case against him as under USA statues of limitations.

The fate of famed entertainer Bill Cosby is in the hands of the jury on charges that he sexually assaulted a woman in his Cheltenham home. They wanted to revisit the portion of a 2005 civil deposition where the comedian, now 79, talked about giving her "three friends". The implication is that she was after money from Cosby, one of America's wealthier stars. "We're talking about all the man's tomorrows", he said.

The defense lawyer then made the connection to Cosby, saying that he was flawed, but his entertainment also changed how many saw the world. She was stoic during the defense argument but left when it was the prosecution's turn.

Constand told Jackson a high-profile man had done something similar to her, according to the statement.

As they watched, Steele repeatedly asserted that, in a sense, Cosby had already confessed.

The jury also heard quotes during the trial from Cosby's deposition about his use of Quaaludes in the 1970s.

"I'm sorry, ma'am", McMonagle said to the long-suffering Camille as he detailed the fallen funnyman's amorous antics.

The second call is evidence of consciousness of guilt, Steele argued, as was the suggestion by Cosby and a team of lawyers to send Andrea and Gianna Constand to Miami, Florida, to meet with Cosby and discuss the situation. Steele said. "It's not right". The anecdote led him to say that children see the best in their parents despite flaws.

The fast-moving case went to the jury of seven men and five women on day six of the trial after closing arguments gave differing portrayals of what happened between Cosby and Andrea Constand at his suburban Philadelphia estate.

"She's (passed) out and you're doing stuff to her?"
