The raid reportedly yielded "huge cache of contrabands, including fire arms, sharp-cutting weapons and hard cash, etc".
The demand by the GJM for a separate state of Gorkhaland to be carved out of the Darjeeling hills of West Bengal is fast turning into a major political crisis for Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, and is likely to cripple the critical tourist industry during the peak summer season.
The Centre had rushed an additional 400 paramilitary personnel to Darjeeling to help the local administration restore peace which was in addition to 1000 personnel already stationed there.
Earlier, three columns of the Army were deployed near the headquarters of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) at Singmarii in Darjeeling on Friday in the wake of the violence in the hills. "Enough is enough. We can't compromise any longer with a party that uses bombs and guns", she says.
In protest against the crackdown, the GJM called an indefinite shutdown in the hills.
Similar items were also recovered from Gurung's house as well.
Gorkhaland supporters had hurled petrol bombs and stones and fought pitched battles with police even as the police burst teargas shells and used batons to disperse the crowd.

Meanwhile, the women Morcha activists gathered outside Gurung's house in large numbers and demonstrated demanding a separate state of Gorkhaland.
As its separatist campaign in the Darjeeling hills spiralled deeper into violence, the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha today sought central intervention to bring back peace in the district and "foil" the West Bengal government's "attempt" to make Bengali mandatory in schools.
Accusing the state government of "high handedness and oppression", GJM General Secretary Roshan Giri appealed to the central and state governments to intervene and sort out the "political problem". "We strongly feel that this is a blatant misrepresentation and misinterpretation of our cultural and traditional tools, and this is the reason why we need Gorkhaland".
The GJM leader said the home minister assured them that he would speak to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue and try to find a solution. "Mamata Banerjee can not suppress our demand", he added.
"We want to protest and agitate peacefully and democratically".
Referring to the June 8 incident in Darjeeling during the state cabinet meeting there, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo said, "I have never seen the way they (GJM) planned to attack the ministers".
