The 'Xbox One X Enhanced' program needs improvement

To be fair, Microsoft is doing a better job with its labelling guidelines than Sony, requiring game packaging and digital store pages to display specific logos for HDR and 4K support. But now it's really happening: we'll be able to play original Xbox games on Xbox One later this year. Games built to leverage the Xbox One X's extra power are labelled with the Xbox One X Enhanced logo, much like PS4 games created to take advantage of the PS4 Pro are marked as PS4 Pro Enhanced.

Nebulous exclusivity is not a new thing in video games - we've been talking about it for years. Speaking to Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb at E3 Coliseum, Rayner said when the game (including multiplayer) was running on Xbox One X, there was still some power left over to improve the core visuals.

Here now, a breakdown of what the word "exclusive" might mean in 2017. That's usually because the console maker either directly funded the game or owns the studio that made it.

Game is selling an Xbox One S (500GB) bundle for £249.99, which includes Forza Horizon 3, Tekken 7, Halo 5, and Gears of War 4 - four of the biggest and best-reviewed games available on Xbox right now.

Long story short, Xbox One X wins over PS4 Pro when it comes to native 4K HDR gaming. It will eventually come out on PC and on other consoles. Full games aren't the only things that get this type of timed exclusivity - publishers will often brag about timed exclusivity for downloadable content, a particularly bullshitty practice that sucks.

While some of you will probably want to put in an Xbox One X pre-order the second they go live, others might benefit from waiting. There's plenty of talk about 4K, 60fps, and HDR, but nowhere does it say that these features are absent on standard Xbox One consoles. A lot of indie games do this, making games for PC while trading timed console exclusivity for help with funding or promotion.

Xbox leader Phil Spencer gave Business Insider a firm "no" when asked if Microsoft will make money selling its latest console at its current price of NZ$750 / AU$650.
