Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor might have a date for their fight

MMA fighter Conor McGregor has tweeted Wednesday afternoon that "the fight is on" between himself and the renowned boxer Floyd Mayweather.

Either that, or Mayweather just wants to keep people guessing until he finally does put fans and media out of their misery and admit the McGregor fight will take place at the end of the summer or beyond.

Mayweather's last fight came back in September 2015, when he brought his professional boxing record to 49-0 before retiring. The fight would take place at the new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The fight will be broadcast on Showtime PPV.

"At the Nevada commission meeting scheduled for Wednesday in Las Vegas, Mayweather Promotions was scheduled to formally request August 26 as a date to promote an unspecified boxing event, with Showtime - Mayweather's broadcast home - as the television entity, but that agenda item has been removed and won't be brought up at the meeting".

While McGregor (21-3) has already agreed to his split of the deal with UFC officials, talks are ongoing between UFC owner WME-IMG and Mayweather adviser Al Haymon. However, it has been reported by the LA Times that he retracted that request not long after making it. He must first apply for his Nevada boxing license, which must be renewed annually. Trust me on that.

McGregor has been pushing for the fight for most of 2017 while he took an extended break while awaiting the birth of his first child and competing three times past year.

While all indicators were pointing in that direction as the Nevada State Athletic Commission on Wednesday approved an August 26 date for Mayweather Promotions, which was believed to be intended for the fight, the finalization of the bout didn't hit the newswire until Wednesday afternoon.
