'Detestable Lie': Sessions Says He Didn't Collude With Russians

Asked by senator James Risch, a Republican from Idaho, whether Sessions had heard "a whisper or suggestion or anyone making making reference within [the Trump] campaign that somehow the Russians were involved in that campaign", the attorney general responded "I did not".

United States Attorney General Jeff Sessions, in his testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday, called accusations that the Trump administration has inappropriate links to Russian Federation a "detestable lie".

Sessions, a former Republican US senator and an early supporter of Trump's presidential campaign, is expected to be asked to explain why he told senators in January that he had no dealings with Russian officials a year ago while serving as an adviser to candidate Trump.

His highly anticipated testimony came less than a week after former FBI Director James Comey sat in the same hot seat.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions confidently and at times forcefully defends himself before the Senate Intelligence Committee Tuesday. On June 13, Jeff Sessions had his turn in the hot seat, testimony that proves crucial when trying to understand President Donald Trump's relationship with Russian Federation. "It's something that we both agreed to that a fresh start at the Federal Bureau of Investigation was probably the best thing", Sessions said of his conversations with Rosenstein regarding replacing the Federal Bureau of Investigation director before Comey was sacked.

Sessions said he did not hold an undisclosed meeting with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak at a speech by then-candidate Trump at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington past year.

Cooper agreed with Wyden and began asking how the Senate could force Sessions to cooperate. He also said he hasn't spoken to special counsel Robert Mueller about the Russian investigation. Last week, Mr. Comey told the same Senate panel he was sacked because the investigation was "irritating" Mr. Trump. He said he would agree to dismiss Mueller only if there were a legitimate basis to do so.

"That is the job for the prosecutors of the Department of Justice".

Pakistan upstage England to reach ICC Champions Trophy final
But with the game getting the same wicket as the Pakistan versus Sri Lanka match, it could be slightly on the slower side. Mark Wood ( England ) recorded more dot balls (101) than any other bowler in the 2017 Champions Trophy group stage.

One of those administration officials, Admiral Michael Rogers, head of the National Security Agency, met with members of the Intelligence Committee in a closed-door session, according to the agency.

HARRIS: I do want you to be honest. Sessions said he did not read these reports.

Lawmakers, including Al Franken of Minnesota and Patrick Leahy of Vermont, have asked the FBI to investigate and to determine if Sessions committed perjury when he denied having had meetings with Russians.

Sessions told the committee that even though he recused himself from the Russian Federation investigation, it was his duty to recommend Comey's firing to the president - even though Comey was leading the investigation.

Some believed Comey was hinting that Sessions' meeting with Russians was problematic and contributed to his recusal in the investigation.

According to Comey, Trump said of Flynn: "He is a good guy". Wyden wanted to know what those reasons were, and Jeff Sessions lost his cool and had a mini freak out.

"It is my judgment that it would be inappropriate for me to answer and reveal private conversations with the president when he has not had a full opportunity to review the questions and to make a decision on whether or not to approve such an answer", Sessions said.

"It is hard to see how he can continue to serve", according to the release.
