Theresa May 'promises to get Tories out of the mess she created'

Labour, the main opposition party, won 262.

She mocked Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, a socialist, as incompetent and unrealistic, but his electoral campaign energised the youth vote and wiped out the Conservatives' majority in parliament.

Mrs May brought former justice secretary Michael Gove in from the cold as environment secretary less than a year after she sacked him, a move which will be seen as an attempt to head off any challenge from the Brexiteer wing of the party.

"Party united behind her".

Conservative MPs who left the meeting, described her performance as "heartfelt", "powerful" and "contrite".

The turmoil started when May made a decision to hold snap elections to gain more seats for her party, which already had majority in parliament, to strengthen her position in the upcoming Brexit talks scheduled for June 19.

Britain's descent into political crisis just days before the Brexit talks begin has sapped confidence amongst business leaders and infuriated bosses who were already grappling with the fallout from the vote to leave the EU. The prospect of an intra-party revolt is likely to soften her approach to Brexit, which she's expected to foreshadow in her Queen's Speech next week.

May has taken the blame for the Conservatives' relatively poor showing in last Thursday's election, in which the party surprisingly lost its majority.

"Theresa May is a dead woman walking". This isn't just going to be a Tory Brexit, this is going to have to involve the whole country.

The move might offer hope to Conservative lawmakers who have criticised her style of government.

However, a Foreign Office statement confirmed that Pakistan had no immediate plan to severe ties with Qatar. Doha has said the severing of trade and transport ties are hurting the country's inhabitants.

As reported in The Guardian, Theresa May has singlehandedly weakened her position, and many in her own party have declared that her position is "untenable".

MPs and ministers also feel they were treated disdainfully by May's two chiefs of staff, Fiona Hill and Nick Timothy, who resigned over the weekend as the PM tried to make concessions. Gove, a long-time opponent who was dismissed when May became prime minister previous year, will now serve as environment secretary.

Britain's Prime Minister Theresa May on Monday began the process of forming a minority government from the hung Parliament after last week's general election and prepared to face questions from her Conservative Party lawmakers.

She is expected to ask for a confidence-and-supply deal, whereby the DUP would forego seats in the cabinet but demand the government meet some of its key demands, and decide whether to support the government's legislation on a case-by-case basis.

"I got us into this mess and I'm going to get us out of it", she told the MPs.

Other senior Tories - including Graham Brady, influential chairman of the 1922 Committee - predicted MPs would rally round, insisting there was no mood in the party for a damaging leadership contest which could see them plunged into a fresh general election.

"It includes money, they want to talk about that, we think it should come later, and Northern Ireland". The UK and Irish governments are now trying to mediate between the DUP and Irish nationalists to restore the Northern Irish government.

How long would a deal with the DUP last?

Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams has expressed his concerns for the Northern Ireland peace process if the Conservative government is propped up by the Democratic Unionist Party.

Davidson bucked the trend by helping the Tories win 13 seats in Scotland, but warned her MPs "will vote entirely as they believe they should" in parliament, raising doubts that the government could secure enough votes to pass a deal taking Britain out of the single market.
