Russia cloud settles in over Trump's White House

Attorney General Jeff Sessions' testimony to the Senate Intelligence committee Tuesday will be open to the public.

"The American people also deserve to hear the attorney general's answers to these questions, as well as others related to his meetings with the Russians and his failure to disclose those meetings to the Senate Judiciary Committee", Wyden wrote Sunday in a letter to intelligence panel leaders. Originally, Sessions was going to testify on Tuesday before both the House and Senate Appropriations Committees, as those panels conduct their regular budget hearings for 2018.

President Donald Trump's daughter, Ivanka, says her father felt "vindicated" and "incredibly optimistic" following fired FBI Director James Comey's congressional testimony last week.

In March, Sessions recused himself from any investigations that look at Russia's actions in the 2016 campaign.

Jeff Sessions requested that his testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee be open to the public, according to the Associated Press. On the right, reports have surfaced that President Trump has reportedly been steaming mad at Sessions dating all the way back to his decision to recuse himself from all investigations relating to Russian Federation. "I'm not the FBI director, but I was the chief federal law enforcement officer in Manhattan with jurisdiction over a lot of things including, you know, business interests and other things in NY".

He did not say whether he would appear in open or closed session.

But intelligence committee members at first were unaware of a planned hearing.

The high-stakes testimony also takes place amid reported friction between Sessions and Trump, who criticized the attorney general's decision to recuse himself in the Russian Federation probe.

And look, he hasn't lost any of the intensity and he hasn't lost his edge. "No, I don't really pay no much attention", he said. It's a reference to what Green said about Cleveland fans not being "the sharpest people around" after Game 4.

Comey's remarks drew an angry response from the president on Friday accusing Comey of lying.

"He had already recused himself and then, suddenly, he's the one apparently recommending to the president that Comey be fired and the president has ... declared it was all about the Russian investigation", Reed said. "We've obviously pressed the White House", he said.

Comey himself had a riveting appearance before the same Senate panel last week, with some key moments centered on Sessions.

Comey alleges that Trump then privately asked him to drop a probe into former national security adviser Michael Flynn's contacts with Russian Federation.

"Public needs to know more about Sessions' Russia contacts & his role in Comey's firing", tweeted Sen.

Democratic Sen. Ron Wyden of OR, also a member of the intelligence panel, sent a letter to panel Chairman Richard Burr of North Carolina and Warner asking for the hearing to be open.

Two leading Democrats, Senator Dianne Feinstein of California and Senator Patrick Leahy of Vermont, called on Sessions to appear before the Judiciary Committee, which has oversight responsibility for the Department of Justice. "No more game playing", Schumer said on CBS.
