Attorney General Jeff Sessions has asked for his testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee to be public. "He believes it is important for the American people to hear the truth directly from him and looks forward to answering the committee's questions tomorrow", said the Justice Department's Sarah Isgur Flores, in a statement relayed by NPR's Carrie Johnson.

There had previously been debate whether Sessions' testimony would be open or closed door. He recused himself in March from a federal investigation into contacts between Russian Federation and Donald Trump's presidential campaign after acknowledging that he had met twice past year with the ambassador. "Sessions actually offered to resign, even though his friends say he doesn't want to leave, but Trump has refused to accept that resignation".

Sen. James Lankford, R-Okla., also a member of that committee, agreed the panel needed to hear any tapes, if they exist.

These probes have led to very bad optics for the administration, if nothing else, after James Comey said in March that the feds are looking into whether the President's campaign colluded with these efforts.

This news comes from the same source, THR , who now reports that Jenkins' deal with Warner Bros . was to only direct one film. That makes the superhero film starring Gal Gadot and directed by Patty Jenkins the biggest opening ever for a female director.

Senate Democrats have raised the possibility that Sessions and Kislyak could have met there, though Justice Department officials say there were no private encounters or side meetings. Comey said President Trump told Sessions and other administration officials to leave the room before Trump asked him in February to drop a probe into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn's contacts with Russian Federation. -Oregon, sent a letter to the chairman and ranking members of the Intelligence Committee, asking that Sessions testify in public.

"Now, twice in 2 mos., AG Sessions cancels an Approps hg in which I could Q him about his false testimony and half-hearted Russian Federation recusal", he said in a later tweet.

Pressure mounted at the start of the week following reports that Sessions offered his resignation to Trump because the President blamed Sessions for exacerbating his Russian Federation problems by recusing himself from the probe. "We're aware of it and we'll go from there", he said.

The announcement caps the drama that started over the weekend when Sessions canceled two appearances Tuesday, citing former Comey's blistering testimony last week.

She added: "With all the noise, with all the intensity of the media coverage and obviously what makes headlines, ultimately we're really focused on why the American people elected Donald Trump as their president".
