Qatar Central Bank says operating normally despite crisis

Qatar's riyal currency, pegged at 3.64 to the USA dollar, was under pressure last week as banks reacted nervously to the diplomatic rift.

More than 11,000 United States and coalition forces are stationed at the Udeid Air Base in Qatar, from which more than 100 aircraft operate.

Egypt and Bahrain, which on Monday cut ties with Qatar and accused it of fomenting instability, tightened their squeeze by putting dozens of figures with links to the tiny, wealthy nation on terrorism blacklists. Several other countries followed suit.
