It appears that Kendall was rumored to be going much higher than the 23rd pick but slipped his way down to the Dodgers where they picked him up at number 23.
Los Angeles had the 23rd overall pick of the Major League Baseball draft and elected to go hitting this time around.
Kendall is a burner, one blessed with well-above-average foot speed that he puts to good use in center field and on the basepaths. But he struck out 196 times in his college career, once every 3 1/2 at-bats. He led Vanderbilt in stolen bases and is seen as a plus defensive outfielder with his speed.
Even with the strikeouts, the Dodgers were intrigued with the production, and potential. Gasparino acknowledged that dynamic could be at work with Kendall as well. "If we can improve his contact rate so he can put ball in play, we feel he'll be a productive player". Cooper, a 6-4, 215-pound right-hander, was a second-round pick. "We would love it if that was the end result".
