As of 11 a.m. on Monday, Boston checked in at 88 degrees.
The normal temperature for this time of year is about 75 degrees so the area is "well above average", Belk said.

Afternoon showers or thunderstorms should cool things down, and the high temperature was expected to be in the mid 70s Wednesday, the weather service said.
