Comey said he never felt the need for such a record from meetings with Trump's two predecessors, Barack Obama and George W Bush. "He should give a straight yes or no to the question of whether or not the tapes exist".
Trump said, Comey recalled, "I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go".
Excellent question. Comey should have stood up more to Trump, which would seem to be part of the job, even if it might have cost him the job.
