Mr Comey painted a devastating picture of an untrustworthy president, who at best unknowingly shred the norms of office by pressing him on the Russian Federation probe, and at worst may have criminally obstructed justice.
"No collusion, no obstruction, he's a leaker, but we want to get back to running our great country", the president said.
"No collusion, no obstruction", the president said under a broiling sun, gazing at senior members of his Cabinet and White House staff perched on folding chairs in the grass.
"No I didn't say that, " Trump stated abruptly, taking questions at a joint press conference with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis in the Rose Garden. Asked if he would make that denial under oath, he said: "100 percent".
However, Comey said Thursday he "was fired in some way to change, or the endeavour was to change, the way the Russian Federation investigation was being conducted".
"And there would be nothing wrong with it if I did say it, according to everything that I've read today", Trump added, which didn't exactly help his case that he didn't say it.
"I'll tell you something about that maybe sometime in the very near future", Trump said.
During Friday's wide-ranging press conference, Trump also publically confirmed his commitment to NATO's mutual defense pact - something he did not do during the alliance's gathering in Belgium last month.
"I believe the James Comey leaks will be far more prevalent than anyone ever thought possible", Trump wrote in an early morning tweet.

Tillerson had called on the Arab nations to immediately ease their blockade on Qatar.
During Thursday's hearing, Donald Trump was unusually silent on social media, even as Mr Comey accused his administration of spreading lies.
They claim that Comey is a liar who provided Congress with an inaccurate account of his interactions with Trump, specifically with regard to former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn and the "loyalty pledge;" at the same time, however, they claim Comey's testimony also totally vindicated the president because he indicated that Trump was not personally under investigation.
The Republican president stopped short of saying that Mr Comey lied under oath.
"WOW, Comey is a leaker!"
Comey, however, specifically said at congressional hearing that Mueller had not reviewed or edited his testimony.
Mr Trump's team seized on Mr Comey's unexpected admission that he leaked details of private Oval Office conversations to the media.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions has agreed to appear before the Senate Intelligence committee.
