Speaking about Scotland's place in the upcoming talks with Brussels Ms Sturgeon said: "In 2014, we were told if we voted Yes we would impale our place in the EU".
Ms Sturgeon described the election, which Mrs May called in a bid to increase the Tory majority at Westminster, as an "opportunity to make positive statement about the kind of country we want Scotland to be".
Ms Sturgeon travelled to Hawick today (Monday, June 5) to back two SNP candidates as campaigning enters its final days.

In the last election, the SNP won 56 of the 59 seats that were up for grabs in Scotland, with Labour, the Liberal Democrats and the Tories each winning just one seat.
A majority of supporters of all parties think independence is the First Minister's priority, running from 55 per cent for those who voted SNP in 2015, to 85 per cent for Lib Dem supporters.
"While the Tories remain on course to win the election United Kingdom wide, Scotland could be pivotal in reducing the size of their majority".
A spokesman for the Scottish Conservatives said: "With its endless threat of a referendum re-run, nothing poses more of a threat to family incomes in Scotland than the SNP".
However, Mr Darling dismissed the idea.

"Instead of campaigning for better standards in our schools and hospitals, once again the nationalists have taken to the streets to campaign for another divisive independence referendum".
NICOLA Sturgeon now says she believes Scotland will be independent by 2025 - despite demanding a second referendum next year.
The leader of the SNP said she is so hooked on the micro-blogging site that she has to "ration" herself.
Asked what Jeremy Corbyn should do if he doesn't become Prime Minister after Thursday's vote, 45% said he should resign, 35% said he should stay on as Labour leader and the rest were unsure.
"If parliamentary arithmetic allowed it, I would want the SNP to be part of a progressive alternative to a Conservative government, not as a coalition, but on an issue by issue basis", Sturgeon said.
He said: "We are targeting to win seats like Edinburgh West, East Dunbartonshire, North East Fife, Caithness, Argyll and the Highlands. Do they want an MP who will do nothing more than advance the cause for another divisive independence referendum, or do they want an MP that will stand up for the local community?"
