"Mail on Sunday tripe - I am backing Theresa May".
Corbyn said Labour was ready to lead a minority government. Unfortunately, we now have a Prime Minister who is attempting to cling onto power rather than do what is best for the country.
The conservative party had to console itself with 26 out of 73 constituencies, the Liberal Democrats managed to win two seats only. Liam Fox, trade minister, also said that May was the only person to take Britain out of the European Union.
May called the general election three years earlier than required by law, with the aim of sweeping an even greater majority for her party before Brexit talks in just eight days to take the country out of the EU.
The Labour leader's insistence that he can become PM - despite not having the numbers in the Commons - comes as Mrs May's has been hit by fresh turmoil.
Meanwhile Newark MP Robert Jenrick, who was last week re-elected to the seat he has served since 2014 with a majority of 18,149, has also spoken out over the DUP's policies.
In a short statement outside Downing Street after an audience with the Queen, May said she would join with her DUP "friends" to "get to work" on Brexit.
If Theresa May survives her own MPs in the initial post-election fall-out, she still faces major hurdles when they return to Parliament next week.
It was another humiliation for May, and a sign that the socially conservative DUP, with its strong focus on Northern Ireland's specific political complexities, will not necessarily be a compliant partner for her minority government.
After losses, UK's May seeks coalition amid some calls to step down
Tory MP Tom Tugendhat said: "I joined a party that introduced equal marriage, backs civil rights and defends freedom of faith". Corbyn accused the Conservatives of undermining Britain's security by cutting the number of police on the streets.
But it will be the people of the north who will have to pay the price for the DUP's support for Brexit and for cuts. It is due to present its platform for the next session in the Queen's Speech at the State Opening of Parliament on June 19.
John McDonnell, will table amendments asking MPs to approve Labour's legislative programme rather than the Tory one. This means they will cease to reach a formal coalition but provide support in the House of Commons.
And it would point towards another General Election on the horizon.
"So far as neutrality is concerned, the Labour Party was closely allied with the SDLP (Social Democratic and Labour Party) when it was part of the Good Friday Agreement and that did not cause a problem so I don't see that there would be a problem there".
Speculation had been mounting during the campaign about the future of some cabinet members.
If Corbyn is successful in voting down the Tories's Queen's Speech, he could have a chance of forming the next government, however it would be a huge challenge.
Will the party with the most MPs form the next government?
May has signaled she will use her right as incumbent to make the first attempt to form a government, but it is unclear whether she will have the necessary support to do so.
"I sought, and to be fair to the prime minister, received a categoric assurance that in talking to the DUP that there would be no suggestion of any rollback on LGBTI rights in the rest of the United Kingdom", she said.
