AB de Villiers' thoughts: I'm still the man to lead the Proteas

South Africa lost a 1999 World Cup semi-final against Australia when they needed one run to win from the last four balls and were eliminated in the group stage on home soil in 2003 after misunderstanding the Duckworth-Lewis scoring system. The loss suffered by South Africa knocked them out of the competition and on the other hand, it assured Indian a semi-final spot.

"I must be very honest with you".

"This was something that we required, this kind of a fielding performance".

Half-centurion Dickwella and skipper Mathews are now putting on a decent partnership to take the Sri Lankan innings forward. "The positivity to our play and the energy that we've come to expect from this group of players just hasn't been there", he lamented.

"You have to be good enough to do that for the country and you have to be good enough to bounce back, as well".

"You can't make the same mistakes over and over again". That sort of mindset is really helping all of us to come together as a unit and make things happen. 300 has been about par in the two matches played in Cardiff so far. We are asking everyone to do it and everyone is responding really well. Virat Kohli did not mind that either as his side laughed their way into the semi-finals where an eminently easy proposition awaits them. "Today was a team performance", a satisfied looking India captain said.

After the first virtual quarterfinal was won by India, it is onto the second, with Sri Lanka and Pakistan the team battling it out for the final remaining place in the semifinals of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017.

Kosovo exit poll: ex-rebels first in election
Ambassador Greg Delawie at a polling station. "Those who were in power should not come again, they are incriminated too much". The EU has made the deal a prerequisite for visa liberalisation, but its opponents say it deprives Kosovo of land.

On whether he still wants to play in 2019 World Cup... "We got something going until those run-outs that cost us dearly today", the Proteas skipper said after the match.

He was justified. In one-day internationals, he's the No. 1-rated batsmen, two teammates are in the top six, they have the top two bowlers, and the team's ranked No. 1.

With the pace bowlers too keeping it tight, they were able to create enormous pressure on the South African batsmen and that led to three run outs, including crucial ones of skipper AB de Villiers and David Miller, to smart fielding.

The defeat kept South Africa's choker's tag in tact but De Villiers, who scored only 20 in three games, defiant.

"It is always very disappointing when we lose but the way we lost was the most disappointing", he said. "We had a lot of soft dismissals", he added. "There was a call out there, and I thought we could get through for the one", said de Villiers.

"Not a lot of people believe me but I feel it is pretty close, it is very hard to say that after a performance like this but that is what I believe in my heart".
