Jose Mourinho's hunt for a ideal Manchester United No 9 is likely to be continued as the newly crowned European champions Real Madrid have reportedly rejected the multi-million dollar deal for their ace striker Alvaro Morata.
Morata is set to be United's first summer signing as Jose Mourinho looks to bolster his attack ahead of the club's return to the Champions League next season.
According to the Telegraph, Alvaro Morata has agreed to join Manchester United this summer.
United were initially interested in Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann but have since turned their attention to a traditional number nine rather than one who plays a slightly deeper-lying role like the France worldwide. It's logical for a forward who has scored 19 goals.
The 24-year-old was the second choice striker for Zidane last season as Morata was behind Karim Benzema in the pecking order.
Alvaro Morata has reportedly informed Real Madrid of his decision to leave the club, with Manchester United his likeliest destination.
Cleveland Writer: Steph Curry 'arrogant, Whiny, Utterly Classless'
Chime in and tell us what you think will happen Friday night during Game 4 of the National Basketball Association finals. Curry was asked about the "incident" on Thursday and denied that there was any intent behind it.
It has been suggested that Manchester United are close to agreeing a €73m fee with Real Madrid for Morata and the player is expected to arrive in England next week to complete the move.
One thing was clear, however, and that was Morata did not want another season like the last, where he played a bit part role.
However, the Old Trafford outfit suffered a major blow in their pursuit of Morata recently, after he admitted it would be "crazy to leave Real Madrid" this summer.
"I would like to stay at Real Madrid, and the only club for me in Italy are Juventus".
"At a big club you are going to attract big players and that's what we want", Rashford said.
The Red Devils managed just 54 Premier League goals with their three trophy triumphs masking many of their problems.
