We'd exchange cup for victims' lives, says Mourinho

Jose Mourinho's first season at the Old Trafford helm yielded two trophies as United won the EFL Cup - with Lingard netting in the final against Southampton - and Europa League, the latter success securing a Champions League return.

United cancelled their schedule pre-match press conference in Stockholm on Tuesday, although manager Jose Mourinho used the club's Twitter feed: "We're all very sad about the tragic events last night, we can't take out of our minds & hearts the victims & their families".

"They went through some hard times in the past, they will get together because they've got a working-class ethic about them, and there's a great unity there in the city".

"I think I just have to make a decision in terms of a football decision, and that's what I'll do".

Jesse Lingard admits that United failed to achieve their primary objectives of winning the Premier League and reaching the top four this season but reckons the squad has learned the lessons needed to help them push for the title next year.

The club tweeted a photo of a banner reading: "Manchester - A City United".

"I knew people who were at the concert, so it's not easy, it's not a nice moment - not just for Manchester but for the whole of England, and we all felt that".

Tory-DUP deal 'would be bad news for women'
The election result leaves Westminster in chaos with just 10 days before the Brexit negotiations are due to begin . Most of the major parties had ruled out a formal coalition with the Tories until the DUP stepped forward.

A minute's silence held before the match turned into a minute's applause and United's players wore black armbands in tribute to those who had been killed and injured in Monday's terrorist attack.

"We won for Manchester, we worked for them, for the country", midfield star Paul Pogba said after the game.

"It is the end of a very hard season", the coach admitted.

"It has been a really hard week in the city of Manchester and we are happy to win for all the people that have suffered".

United finished 24 points adrift of champions Chelsea this season, but defender Chris Smalling says the club's first Europa League success has fired their ambitions.

The European football Union announced the list of players who were the best in the Europa League the season 2016-2017.

"It was a boring game". "I'm disappointed because you play finals to win them". It means going back to the Champions League and playing in the European Super Cup next August.
