Trump to take questions in wake of Comey testimony

This will be Trump's first press event since former Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey denounced the president as a liar during his testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee.

President Donald Trump will be hosting a press conference Friday afternoon in the Rose Garden alongside Romanian President Klaus Iohannis. But questions about Comey's testimony are sure to dominate the news conference, after the fired Federal Bureau of Investigation director accused the president and his administration of lying about rank-and-file Federal Bureau of Investigation employees losing confidence in him. In one way or another Comey accused Trump or his administration of lying five times. While the GOP continues to try and paint yesterday's hearing as a win for the President, and Trump himself tweets about how he has been vindicated, most political pundits don't quite view it that way.

The remarks will be Trump's first live, on-camera remarks since the damning testimony James Comey gave Thursday before the Senate Intelligence Committee.

The testimony would serve to strengthen Mr Comey's credibility with congress, Mr Gerhardt said, possibly at the expense of the president.

Comey said he told Trump in multiple conversations that he was not being personally investigated and said the president implored him to make that public.
