Tension spiked on Thursday in Karmala taluka of Maharashtra's Solapur district after a suicide note left behind by a 42-year-old farmer mentioned that his body should not be cremated till CM Devendra Fadnavis visited his village.
Jadhav is survived by his wife and two children. "We support the demands of complete debt waiver for all farmers whose loans are outstanding with district cooperative and nationalized banks, full implementation of the M.S. Swaminathan Committee Report and a Rs 5,000 monthly pension to all farmers as social security", demanded Utagi.
The Karmala police said Jadhav's suicide note was addressed to his friends and relatives.
Dhanaji Jadhav, 45, hung himself from a tree near his house at Veet village in Karmala tehsil last night, Solapur Collector Rajendra Bhosale said. He had a debt of around Rs 60,000 on his head besides other loans from private moneylenders.
In the past, there were irregularities in the loan waiver schemes, and to avoid that the government will take the help of IT-based technology this time, he said. The Solapur collector is on his way to the village, and police teams have also been rushed to the area to prevent the situation from spiralling into a law-and-order problem. While refraining from selling their agricultural produce in many parts of the state, the cultivators took to the streets to disrupt the movement of vehicles carrying farm produce to cities such as Mumbai, Pune, Nashik.
Apple HomePod vs. Amazon Echo: The similarities and differences, explained

However, protests continued as another section of farmers stuck to its demand for a blanket loan waiver.
On June 3, farmers' organisations said they had called off their strike after Fadnavis made some assurances.
Bhosale confirmed the farmer's suicide note said his body should not be cremated until the chief minister visits and announces a loan waiver for the farmers. The state government also promised farmers that a state-level commission would be formed to manage the costs farmers incur and the prices at which they sell their produce.
"The findings in the postmortem report and empty cartridges from the spot have established that it was the bullets fired by police that led to death of the farmers", State Home Minister Bhupendra Singh said on Thursday. It also agreed to revise the price of milk by June 20. This is being seen as a crucial meeting, with efforts on by the state government to break the strike, or at least demoralise the farmers by ensuring that their effort to block milk and vegetables from reaching the cites does not work.
Of the total 307 APMC markets across the state, more than 300 opened on Wednesday and they saw 90% of their average daily arrivals of farm produce, according to Maharashtra's agriculture marketing department.
